International English Language Testing System

There are two IELTS tests available, IELTS Academic and IELTS General Training. Both tests are graded in exactly the same way. All four language skills—speaking, reading, writing, and listening—are assessed in the IELTS exam. The entire test lasts less than three hours. The test can be given in either form: Computer based or Paper based.

Format:
Listening: The IELTS Listening test takes approximately 30 minutes and has a set of 40 questions. Each correct answer receives one mark. Scores out of 40 are converted to the IELTS 9-band scale.

Reading: The IELTS Reading test takes approximately 60 minutes with a set of 40 questions comprising of 3 passages. Each correct answer receives one mark. Scores out of 40 are converted to the IELTS 9-band scale.

Writing: The IELTS Writing test takes 60 minutes. Task 1 requires a minimum of 150 words and Task 2 requires a minimum of 250 words.

Speaking: This module is divided into 3 parts with a total duration of 12-15 minutes.
