Applications are typically processed through your institution. requiring a visa application form, passport photos, and a valid passport with two blank pages. 

Key Documents Checklist

  • Valid Passport: Must have at least two blank pages and be valid for at least 6-12 months beyond your arrival date.
  • Proof of Admission: Official letter of acceptance from a recognized Dutch educational institution (recognized as an IND sponsor).
  • Completed Visa Application Form (MVV): Filled out, signed, and submitted to the IND or via the consulate/embassy.
  • Financial Proof: Evidence of sufficient funds, typically around €957.87 per month for living expenses, plus tuition fees. This can include bank statements, scholarship letters, or a sponsor’s declaration.
  • Passport Photos: Two recent passport-sized photos meeting Dutch requirements.
  • Health Insurance: Proof of health insurance coverage for the duration of your stay.
  • Academic Transcripts/Background: Copies of previous diplomas, certificates, or academic transcripts.
  • Birth Certificate: May be required by some authorities (often legalized/apostilled).

  • Tuberculosis Test: You may need to undergo a TB test upon arrival (depending on nationality). 

Important Notes

  • Application Process: Most students do not apply for the visa directly. The Dutch university initiates the immigration process once you have paid tuition and demonstrated financial means.
  • VFS Global: If you need to submit documents or biometrics personally, you may need to book an appointment with VFS Global.
